APOCALYPSE

VR DESIGN OF THE EXHIBITION APOCALYPSE IN THE STEDELIJK MUSEUM 2023
Five decades of artistry by multi-talented Felix de Rooy (Curaçao, 1952) with film, theater and visual arts in countless forms: from paintings to assemblages and from (digital) collages to tapestries. De Rooy was far ahead of his time and explored topics that are still relevant today, including the impact of the colonial past, everyday racism and the meaning of Afro-Caribbean and queer identities in art.

PRODUCTION
Atelier Argos, Charl Landvreugd, Floris Guntenaar, Laura van Bussel, Alica Pushkina, Felix de Rooy, Stedelijk Museum, Rooftop Immersive Studio and DynamischArchief.nl.
The VR exhibition is partly supported by the Mondriaan Fund.

STATE OF THE ART 2025

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Allard Pierson Theater Collection, the Chair of Theater Studies, in collaboration with Allard Pierson and Stichting TiN, is organizing a symposium on Thursday 27 and Friday 28 February 2025.
Scenographers are invited to present their vision on the theater of the 21st century.

IMMERSIVE STORIES

Contemporary artists reflect on the work, ideas and visions of 96 Avant Garde Artists from the 1920s and use them to tell their own story. Their visions and new visual language are shown in the VR spaces.

A story that spans a hundred years of theatre history, starting with the Avant Garde of 1922, then jumping to the present and ‘onwards’.

SCENOGRAPHY - THE VISUAL LANGUAGE - AS CORE OF THIS NARRATIVE
Between storyboard and result, immersive technology and the perhaps unwanted interference of AI show us how visual language has changed in form and use. Contemporary visual artists, chosen for their multidisciplinary work, quality and visions, tell their story in the virtual spaces.
